Library List

I'd like to note down here the books we've been checking out to read together.  It will help me keep track of what we've already read and we can share our favorites here as well.  All the text in purple highlights books I'd like to eventually purchase.

Your Daddy and I thought this one was too mature for you.  We didn't really like the morals the story highlighted.  The little girl stole from her parents and did terrible things that ended up in her being arrested.  It reminded us of Edward Gorey's illustrations and very dark humor which is great for adults, but not so much for little girls.

Moon Child was a really sweet, simple read about nocturnal babies.

Swimmy was a really cute and beautifully illustrated story about a little fish who teaches a school of other tiny fish how to survive in the ocean.  The illustrations are gorgeous and you enjoy looking at them.

Your Daddy and I giggled because there were pictures of poop in this book.  Your Daddy and I may be old, but we are apparently not that mature.  I think this book inspired you though because the day after reading it, you kept taking your diaper off and you pooped on your floor too.  I'd like to say I was proud, but I'd be prouder if you'd use the potty instead of the floor.

Pretty philosophical for a kid's book.  You liked the pictures though and I enjoyed the story.  This is one I would purchase for us to read again and again.

This book reminded me a lot of the "Are you my mother" book by Dr. Seuss, but in the end, Choco finds a mother in an unexpected character, Mrs. Bear.  When Mrs. Bear takes Choco home, he sees that Mrs. Bears other children are all different species as well.  This is a very tender introduction to the subject of adoption.

You LOVE this book.  It might be because you can point at the cats on each page and say "kitty" over and over again, but whatever it is, you drag this out every time we ask what you want to read.  The story is funny and cute and teaches the lesson of owning up to our own mistakes and misdeeds.

This book is about a bunny who lives it up while her human family is away.  The illustrations are really adorable and hold your attention well.  This is another of your favorites and I love reading it to you as well because it's about a bunny.

This would be another book I would purchase.  The pictures are very imaginative as is the story line about a friendship between an old man and a young girl.
